The bearded miner is the highest-paying symbol; landing three, four or five of them on the same pay line can pay out either one, eight, or twenty times players stakes.
The game's wild is represented by sticks of dynamite, which replace all other symbols on the reels and act to form winning combinations except for the scatter symbol. The scatter is the tunnel mine shaft symbol. Note! The sticks of dynamite do not offer any pay outs per se, merely acting to form winning combinations.
Bonus Features
Free Spins
Landing three or more of the tunnel scatter symbols anywhere along reels two, three or four will awards players ten free spins. Even better, once the free spins are underway, each tunnel scatter awards players two additional spins.
Prospecting for gold nuggets
The whole point of Gold Rush is to strike it lucky and find gold of course. This is where the game's gold nuggets come in handy. Players must collect as many of them as possible. Doing so will add more prospector symbols along the reels and increasing players chances of more significant wins.
Collecting the below number of nuggets upgrades players number of prospectors:
0 to 4 nuggets - adds seven extra prospectors
5 to 9 nuggets - adds sixteen more prospectors
10 to 14 nuggets - adds twenty-one new prospectors
15 or more nuggets will add twenty-nine additional prospectors
Plus, as a bonus, if players grasp that one nugget required to reach the next level on their last spin, they will be bestowed an additional spin. Each time a tunnel scatter lands during the feature, two more free spins are added to players total. Again, if a player advances to a level on their final free spin, they'll get another one too.
Summary
Gold Rush has plenty going for it regarding playability, sound effects and an enhanced free spins feature. For gamers, mining slots are far too common these days, yet with Gold Rush's prospecting for nuggets, this game really stands out. The one negative for this slot is that like the Californian Gold Rush itself, prospecting takes time, so players may experience lengthy spells whilst they await their haul of gold. The trick here is to collect plenty of nuggets so that more coins will follow.
